As a self-titled Steve Garvey supercollector, more than 50% of his blog posts feature the famous former Dodger and Padre. As a fellow Garvey collector--though not as super--me likey. Me likey a lot.
The Year It All Began often uses Garvey as a jumping-off point to delve into detailed scholarship. Check out these hard-hitting, investigative posts!
- 1975 Dodger-Pepsi Fan Club (several items featuring Garvey)
- 1980 Long Beach Press Telegram (scan of paired Carew / Garvey "card")
- 1982 Montreal News (several scans, including Garvey)
Given the blog's passion for Garvey esoterica, Seattle upbringing, and his 1978 kick-off, I have to wonder--were we separated at birth? Grown from matching tubes in the same secret government lab? The mystery grows with every post...

Thanks for the spotlight.
I found your OBC site and the Garvey wantlist. I can help you out there. You seem to want oddball only. Is this mostly a type card thing or have you just obtained the rest? I like to know a little about my competition, even though I have everything in my personal collection on your wantlist already minus the 80 LBPT!!
Thanks for checking my list. I have enough Garveys that it's down to oddballs from his playing career. No doubt a bunch of retro cards are also missing--haven't tracked those as closely. (I look more for #5s right now, so don't present much Garvey competition. :-)
Do you also keep a larger set list, since I probably can't hit your Garveys?
