As a self-titled Steve Garvey supercollector, more than 50% of his blog posts feature the famous former Dodger and Padre. As a fellow Garvey collector--though not as super--me likey. Me likey a lot.
The Year It All Began often uses Garvey as a jumping-off point to delve into detailed scholarship. Check out these hard-hitting, investigative posts!
- 1975 Dodger-Pepsi Fan Club (several items featuring Garvey)
- 1980 Long Beach Press Telegram (scan of paired Carew / Garvey "card")
- 1982 Montreal News (several scans, including Garvey)
Given the blog's passion for Garvey esoterica, Seattle upbringing, and his 1978 kick-off, I have to wonder--were we separated at birth? Grown from matching tubes in the same secret government lab? The mystery grows with every post...
Thanks for the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteI found your OBC site and the Garvey wantlist. I can help you out there. You seem to want oddball only. Is this mostly a type card thing or have you just obtained the rest? I like to know a little about my competition, even though I have everything in my personal collection on your wantlist already minus the 80 LBPT!!
Thanks for checking my list. I have enough Garveys that it's down to oddballs from his playing career. No doubt a bunch of retro cards are also missing--haven't tracked those as closely. (I look more for #5s right now, so don't present much Garvey competition. :-)
ReplyDeleteDo you also keep a larger set list, since I probably can't hit your Garveys?
